The Role: This role exists within the Group Systems Department of PA Consulting Group. Group Systems is the internal IT support and development function for PA Consulting Group globally.
The role is based at our Cambridge (Melbourn) site. The successful candidate will spend c.80% of their time in the Melbourn office and c. 20% of their time in the London office (near Victoria station).
Experience required: - Working in IT arenas - Project Management experience - Must be customer focused with proven success at delivering business outcomes across multiple projects and programmes of varying scale/type - Must have strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate at all levels, both verbal and written – ‘gravitas’ and credibility - A well developed range of ‘soft’ skills such as facilitation, influencing and negotiation, team building and dynamics (both within own project teams and the project office itself) - Able to grasp technology detail quickly but not to be intellectually constrained by it - An appreciation of change management as a key to unlocking benefits from projects - Must have high level of decision making capability - Experience of managing implementation of Microsoft software products (SQL, ASP, .NET) desirable - Experience of managing diverse and geographically dispersed projects teams highly desirable - Proficient in the practical applicatoin of Microsoft Project 2000 - Consulting and/ or Business Analysis experience would be advantageous but not essential. Duties/Responsibilities and Competencies of the Role:
Reporting to the Head of Projects within Group Systems, the successful person will deliver business outcomes and benefits through the successful management of projects and programmes, of varying scale, through each stage of the project lifecycle.
This person will have: • Full responsibility for assigned projects which may include: software development, product implementation and infrastructure deployment • Ensuring projects are delivered in accordance with criteria agreed with senior management, e.g. time, cost, quality and scope • Meeting project success criteria defined by key stakeholders and customers to ensure successful delivery of business outcomes (and the related benefits) • Managing project and programme stakeholders in terms of expectations, issues and progress • Matrix managing technically diverse and distributed project teams/resources • Producing and maintaining project and programme documentation throughout the full project lifecycle • Managing project performance and hygiene (e.g. scope, objectives, schedule, issues, risks, resourcing and dependencies) • Ensuring issue, risk and dependency management is implemented and maintained • Facilitating issue resolution and negotiating trade-off decisions with other teams, senior management and business owners • Providing input to technical documentation, ensuring specs are agreed to and supported by the project schedule
