My client; a leading medical research firm with a global presence has an urgent requirement for a Network Engineer to join them. This is a permanent position to be based in Berkshire. There will be ad-hoc international travel to Europe and the US for training and Project related work. Full expenses paid for international travel. You will also travel between their other UK offices.
The purpose of your role is to perform network support and monitoring for my client's global network. This will be done in conjunction with the US based network team. You will be responsible for all aspects of data/voice networking support across EMEA. You will also provide input to the Networking Team with regards to overall global network design.
Your standard duties will include:
•Day-to-day monitoring and performance tuning of the WAN infrastructure as well as support for the VOIP system.
•Daily maintenance/housekeeping of my client's European network.
•Analysis, design, testing, documentation, implementation/configuration and support of WAN / LAN and converged network technologies.
•Integration and upgrade of existing sites onto the company MPLS network.
•Support and rollout of the Cisco VOIP telephony solution.
•Coordination of circuit and hardware installs.
•Maintain a document repository for the entire non-US network.
•Perform network architecture reviews in conjunction with the US network team to develop detailed design and deployment plans for the companies global network.
•Work to optimise the current network setup to provide the best functionality and efficiency.
•Work in conjunction with IT Operations Director and Network Team to evaluate and implement appropriate networking technologies.
•On site support for all networking requirements and needs for companies regional offices.
•Assist the Technology Support and Server teams where necessary.
•Perform project related duties in the UK, Europe and US.
Your technical skills should include:
•4+ years of network support, hands-on implementation, configuration and troubleshooting in a multi-site environment.
•Demonstrated experience of Cisco switches and routers.
•CCNA required, CCNP preferred.
•Knowledge of MPLS, Frame Relay and ATM.
•Knowledge of BGP, EIGRP routing protocols.
•Knowledge of PIX configuration.
•Knowledge of IP telephony.
•Knowledge of IPSEC VPN configuration.
•Knowledge of WAN acceleration technologies (particularly Juniper) preferred.
•CRO or healthcare industry experience preferred but not essential.
•Excellent technical experience within an international environment preferred.
•A solid understanding of the concepts and processes involved with ITIL.
