My client; a leading European IT Consulting Company in the fields of Finance, industry, public sector and services, currently have an urgent requirement for a IT Change and Release Manager. This is a permanent role to be based in South Yorkshire.
Primary Purpose of the Role is to implement and manage IT Change and Release Management processes and functions for my clients UK customers.
Your duties will include:
•Process owner for Change Management and Release Management for internal and external customers, ensuring all IT changes and releases are managed in line with ITIL-based industry best practice, and to customer requirements defined in agreed SLA's.
•Chair the Change Advisory Board (CAB), ensuring meetings are held on a regular basis as required by the customer, ensuring the meetings are managed effectively and all change records and documentation are fully maintained.
•Ensure all relevant changes go through the Operational Acceptance process, liaising with the Operational Acceptance Manager and Project Managers to ensure successful handover of project deliverables into the live environment.
•Liaise with business and technical teams to ensure implementation, test, and back-out plans exist for all relevant changes.
•Maintain the Forward Schedule of Change as agreed at regular CAB meetings, and to ensure any failed or backed-out changes are reviewed teams to ensure lessons learned are followed through.
•Ensure the appropriate tools to support the Change Management process are implemented and maintained, with access available to all relevant staff and managers.
•Provide reporting and escalation to senior managers when changes have been implemented outside the agreed processes.
•Develop, implement and manage Release Management processes – including Patch Management - for both internal and external customers, utilising the appropriate software tools (e.g. Altiris suite, CA Unicentre) to support software deployment.
•Ensure Release (and Patch) Management processes are integrated with other Service Management functions, in particular Change Management, Configuration Management and Service Desk.
•Implement and maintain a Continual Improvement Process for Change and Release Management to ensure the requirements of the customers and internal teams are met to a high standard.
Technical & Professional skills:
•Extensive experience in an IT Change/Release Management role.
•Experience in the management of software tools to support Change and Release Management (e.g. Altiris, CA Unicentre etc).
•Practical knowledge and expertise in other Service Management processes and functions. Demonstrable IT technical background.
•Excellent communication, presentation and customer service skills.
Education & Qualifications:
•ITIL Foundation or Managers Certificate required.
•ITIL practitioner qualification in Change / Release Management highly desirable.
•PRINCE2 Project Management qualification highly desirable.
