This Leading FTSE100m Organisation that can boast being the UK IT Leaders, have a fantastic opportunity for a SENIOR DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER to join an established project.
This role is highly technical and requires a highly motivated and experienced Engineer to
develop web applications within a medium sized team and provide technical mentoring to more inexperienced members of the development team.
Develop high quality applications to requirements specifications ensuring quality products on time and within budget.
This is an intensely technical role where you will spend a large percentage of time DEVELOPING and you should be experienced in Microsoft technologies and software development as a whole. .
You will represent the Microsoft Team at all appropriate forums and be actively involved in the wider picture, and keep abreast of current developments in Microsoft technologies and provide guidance in the training and development of more inexperienced team members
Take the technical lead in architecture and implementation
Be a technical authority for services, applications and technologies within the Microsoft Team
To be the architectural assurance for internal and third party developments
Develop web based applications within the standards of the Microsoft Team
Maintain source code versions, releases and history using TFS
Develop, document, test and deploy web applications in accordance with the processes and standards within the Microsoft Team.
Maintain a detailed knowledge of current best practice in software development and a detailed knowledge of Microsoft products
Work with the test team in ensuring good practice and quality of applications.
Ensure third-party developments are in-line with the functional requirements and design.
Provide third line support cover for applications developed by the team.
Essential Experience/Skills
Strong detailed knowledge of .Net 2. ASP.NET
Strong detailed knowledge of either VB .Net or C#
Strong detailed knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, CSS and proven experience of developing web based applications
Exp of integrating with third party applications
Exp of software development methodologies
Demonstrable knowledge of web accessibility standards (WAI, W3C)
Proven knowledge web security
Systems design experience
Strong influencing and persuasion skills.
Proven technical experience in one or more relevant areas of Microsoft applications: SharePoint, CRM, BizTalk.
Graduate calibre: professional qualification or equivalent experience.
Excellent communication skills
An understanding of the differences between .Net 2 and 3
Desired Experience/Skills Experience of structured mark-up languages (e.g. XML)
Up to date knowledge of .Net 3 or 3.5
Working knowledge of TFS.
Full lifecycle experience
A list of URLS, for sites developed, would assist in the application
Knowledge of design patterns
