Network Services Installation Engineer

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES/FUNCTIONS OF BUSINESS UNIT
The services provided to learning establishments largely fall in to the following categories:
Business Operations – the creation and management of SLAs appropriate to the needs of our customers, coupled with the on-going monitoring and management of SLT's performance against those SLAs. This area also maintains the overall provision of internal SLT services such as admin, finance and procurement functions, as well as the business strategy function.
Service Delivery – the day to day operations of the Learning Technologies. This area contains the management of the service support (call taking) area, as well as the support and development functions for the Curriculum Services and MIS Services teams.
Service Development – this area is largely the project based function within SLT. The Service Development function has the installation teams within it (Audio Visual and Network Services), as well as the repairs team (Mobile services). These areas are responsible for new business growth and maintenance of existing assets.

•Experience of using computers and Microsoft Office products
•Some Experience of Computer Networks / Data Communications
•Qualification in Data Network Cabling
•City & Guilds 3466 Copper Course
•City & Guilds 3466 Fibre Course
•Health and Safety Awareness
•Asbestos Awareness
•Working in confined Spaces
•Working at Heights
•Working with ladders/Scaffold
•Risk assessment
•Basic First Aid
•Cherry Picker Certification
•Qualification in electrical installation procedures
Understanding of Auto CAD Package
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND/OR EXPERIENCE
•1 Year's Experience in networking installation
•Proven Knowledge of Network Topologies
•Basic understanding of Telephony Technology
•Experience of installing active components
•Experience of Fault Finding and diagnostic of network cabling using testers
•Ability to work under varying conditions, on ladders / scaffolding and in confined spaces
•Excellent ability to use hand tools and power tools efficiently and to a high standard
•Use and understanding of Auto Cad to detail network cabling information
•Experience in working in educational environment
Proven Knowledge of building structures and materials
Salary is dependant on experience.
